Platform admin¶
Who this is for
Platform admins, who set up businesses on Quote Builder and look after it as a whole.
What a platform admin can do¶
- Create new businesses.
- Open any business and act as an estimator in it: edit its rate card, settings, quotes and team.
- Read the audit log for every business in one place.
- See how many quotes each business creates, sends and wins.
In a business, on a computer, the bottom of the sidebar shows "Platform admin" in place of a role, with a Platform admin button that opens the platform admin pages. The button isn't on a phone's narrow screen: use a wider screen, or go to Choose a business.
Where you go when you sign in depends on how many businesses you belong to yourself:
- None: straight to the platform admin page.
- Exactly one: straight to that business. Use the Platform admin button in its sidebar.
- More than one: Choose a business, which has a Platform admin button.
Becoming a platform admin isn't done in the app. A developer sets up the first platform admin when Quote Builder is installed. Ask them if someone else needs to be one.
The platform admin page¶
Select Platform admin at the bottom of the sidebar on any business page, or on Choose a business.
The page is headed Platform admin. Back takes you back to your business, or to Choose a business. It lists every business with its Address (its web address, such as /b/beesleys), how many Members it has and when it was Created. Select a business's name to open it.
Quotes per business¶
Under the list, Quotes per business shows how busy each business is, busiest first:
- Created: quotes made in the period.
- Sent: quotes sent to the client for the first time in the period.
- Won: of the quotes sent in the period, how many are marked won today.
- Win rate: of those sent quotes that are won or lost, the share won. It shows "—" until one is decided.
- Last quote: when the business last made a quote, at any time. A business that hasn't made one shows "None yet".
Choose Last 30 days, Last 90 days or All time. The All businesses row adds them up. For more detail on one business, open its dashboard.
Creating a business¶
- On the platform admin page, go to Add a business.
- Enter the Business name.
- Check the Web address. It's filled in from the name as you type, and you can change it. Use lowercase letters, numbers and dashes only. It can't be changed later in the app, so choose carefully.
- Optionally enter the First estimator's email. They're invited as the business's estimator.
- Leave Start with the standard categories and muck-away materials ticked to give the business a starting point:
- rate categories: Prelims, Demolition, Groundworks, Hard landscaping, Planting
- muck-away materials: Soil, Stone, Sand and Rubble, each with a typical bulking percentage and density.
Untick it to start with an empty rate card and no materials. 6. Select Create business.
You see a link to the new business. If you entered an estimator's email, you also see one of these:
- "Invite emailed to the estimator."
- "The estimator already had an account and has been added."
- "Email couldn't be sent — send the estimator this link". Copy the link and send it to them yourself.
- "Invite failed", with the reason.
If you see "That web address is taken", choose another web address.
A new business has no rates, no items, no machines in its plant library and no team members other than the estimator you invited. The estimator then sets up the rate card, items, plant, settings and team. As a platform admin you can do this for them.
The audit log across all businesses¶
On the platform admin page, select Audit log. The page is headed Audit log: all businesses.
It works like a business's own audit log, with two differences:
- Each row shows which Business the change was made in. "Deleted business" means the business no longer exists. Its history is kept.
- You can choose a business from All businesses to see only its changes.
Select Admin to go back.
Deleting a business¶
There's no button to delete a business. If a business needs deleting, ask a developer. Deleting a business removes all its quotes, rates, settings and team memberships. People's accounts aren't deleted, and the audit log keeps its history.
Things only a developer can do¶
- Make someone a platform admin, including setting up the first one.
- Delete a business.
- Load a business's rate card from a file. Add the plant catalogue first: the rate card's plant lines name machines in the plant library.
- Add the plant catalogue Beesleys researched in October 2026 to a business's plant library, with
npm run import-machines -- <business-slug> supabase/seed/plant-catalogue.json. It only adds machines the business doesn't have yet, and lists the plant lines that still have a typed day rate. - Set the app up to send invite emails to anyone. Until this is done, invites may come back as a link for you to send yourself.
